Have fun with Freedom Is Not Free while supporting the brave men and women of the military and their families who sacrifice so much for the freedom we all enjoy.
We at Freedom Is Not Free strive to produce events that we hope you, the community at large, will find fun, stimulating and worthy of your participation all in an effort to raise funds and awareness for wounded warriors and their families.
It is our most sincere aspiration that all of you will join us in our efforts to assist us in our mission to support community projects for wounded veterans and provide support and healing activities for families of wounded service members, particularly their children. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all soon at an upcoming Freedom Is Not Free special event.
December 27-30--Little Warriors Baseball Camp: The 2011 Little Warriors Baseball Camp was held in Carlsbad, CA at Poinsettia Park from December 27-30, and hosted over 30 children of wounded or deployed military personnel. Keeping with the goals of the organization, Freedom Is Not Free was pleased to offer this camp free of charge for the participating families. The camp was available for boys and girls ages 4-15, and featured fundamentals workshops and actual games. Not only did the children have a great time, they also made tangible improvements in their skills throughout the camp. Freedom Is Not Free would like to thank the generous sponsors and donors that made the camp possible, it was a great way to give back to the community during the holiday season!
December 17--Military FUN: Freedom Is Not Free hosted its first Military Family Unity Night in Oceanside, CA for the friends and family of a local wounded warrior. As our way of recognizing and thanking military families, Freedom Is Not Free threw a party for our VIP, his family, and 20 of their closest friends. Military families, and children in particular, bear a huge burden when a parent is wounded or deployed and often receive little recognition for their sacrifices. Military FUN is a way to show our appreciation for military families without thrusting them in front of a spotlight.
July 19 & 20, July 26 & 27, August 2 & 3, and August 9 & 10--Little Warriors Surf Camp: The 2011 Little Warriors Surf Camp benefits children of military service members. It was free to children of our nation's heroes. They learned to surf and enjoyed a day of fun in the sun on the beautiful shores of La Jolla, CA during the Camps. Each session was two-days long, and children enjoyed surfing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on each day. There were only 100 total spots, allowing for 25 childen per each two-day session. Instruction was provided by world-renowned Surf Diva. Thanks so much to Surf Diva, all of our sponsors and the children who made our 2011 Little Warriors Surf Camp such a success this past summer!
June 20--2011 Charity Golf Tournament: Freedom Is Not Free was excited to present the Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit wounded service members, their families and the families of the fatally wounded on Monday, June 20 with the shotgun play to start at 12 noon. This year's tournament was held at the Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. Freedom Is Not Free was able to raise more than $40,000 in the Golf Tournament. The Celebrity Golf Tournament featured Congressional Medal of Honor recipients Robert Modrzejewski, Mike Thornton, and Richard Pittman; San Diego Chargers Steven Jackson and Quentin Jammer; and a host of Active Duty Marines from Camp Pendleton. Thank you to all our sponsors and the 144 golfers who played in our tournament, and who took time from their busy schedules to honor those who've sacrificed for us all.
Here's what people are saying about Freedom Is Not Free events:
“My son participated in the Little Warriors Surf Camp this August and had an amazing experience. He learned how to surf, met some new friends, and received an incredible surfboard to take home with him so that he can continue to practice what he learned. This camp was very special because my husband has always wanted to teach him to surf, but due to his 4 deployments to Iraq and upcoming deployment to Afghanistan, as well as the prep work required to go, little time was left to teach our son to surf. Now when my husband has some free time the 2 of them can sneak away to surf if only for an hour. The instructors were wonderful as well as all the prep work that went into preparing the camp. I was always well informed of any information needed for the camp and quick responses were always given to all of my questions. We feel very blessed to have had this experience!” Michelle, parent of a 2009 Little Warriors Surf Camp participant
